We're looking for a software developer who can contribute to the design and development of new features bug fixes for internal development tools and external stakeholders, system and software package updates, and fight fires as they arise. They should be open to additional projects as time, interest, stakeholder requests, and ability allow. Ideally, they should have experience working with a geographically diverse team.
The developer's efforts will be directed across three areas:
- Website: Our website is built on Django (python), jQuery, Bootstrap, and Postgres populated by dynamic, computational content. Sometimes things break and sometimes we need to add a new feature, so we need someone who can help it run smoothly and help build new content.
- Search Algorithm: The heart of our project is taking a list of plants and searching over a nationwide database of 1000+ nurseries with 1,000,000+ inventory items that can change daily. From there we provide several recommended ways for the landscaper to make a purchase. Our search algorithm continues to grow as we add more data and features over which to optimize and as we refine our understanding of the kinds of results our customers want.
- Big Data Analysis: With data from 1000+ nurseries and 10,000+ landscapers, we need someone who can help us analyze and mine the inventory history, search inputs, regional dynamics, and pricing fluctuations to extract useful, valuable recommendations about what nurseries should grow and where the industry is headed.
We're a small team, so the developer will be working closely with the CTO on a daily basis.
